Another sporadic update to my not-so-interesting life. Also, happy February.
Wednesday was another snow day. I stayed home and laid around all day. It was nice to have
nothing to do for a change.
On Thursday, we had a two-hour delay, which summarily ended my "nothing to do" hiatus. It's been a while, though, so the details have slipped away. I was late to class again, from driving (sort of, but not really) slowly and searching for a suitable parking space. Ms. Sim was out -- a snowboarder slammed into her while she was skiing over the longer-than-expected weekend! Mrs. Anderson canceled It's Ac after school, so I just went home.
On Friday, Mr. Adkins went for a new record: eight discussion points in one day. He missed it, though, sticking with the old record of seven (!). So we're covering the last one on Monday -- before the test. The info from that one should definitely be fresh in my mind, but still. That's just weird. What other teacher would cover test material for the first time on the day of the test? Huh.
Greg and I went out Friday night, since he had it off (he usually works on Fridays). We saw
Along Came Polly. It was pretty good. The old, blind ferret (I think she named it Rodolfo) was funny for the few minutes it was in the movie. Ben's and Jennifer's characters were played well. I laughed quite a bit. It wasn't a hidden gem like
School of Rock (anyone know when that's out on DVD?), but it's worth seeing if you have time. I still want to see
Chasing Liberty. It's playing on Andrews two weeks from Friday, but I may have to go by myself since Greg rarely has Fridays off. Maybe I can find someone else to go with me, though.
Last night, I went to Mykella's birthday party. I had the best time. Seriously. I almost never go to parties, especially not big ones like that, but it was fabulous. I got a ride with Stephanie (and Megan and Valerie). Her house is really big. We started playing
Save the Last Dance, the movie I brought, but they vetoed it in favor of
Bad Boys II. Needless to say, I eventually wound up downstairs with the alternate group after the pizza came. We watched
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, which I liked. All of us wandered back upstairs to watch the end of
28 Days Later before the party broke up. It was just... I really had a great time. Greg was working, but he came over there afterward.
It just feels good to be able to write about the party, instead of just reading about in other people's blogs. You know what I mean? I'm glad I decided to go.
So today, I did homework. I still have to study for tomorrow's test, but that can wait for a little while. This was a pretty good weekend, considering that school is rearing its ugly head again. Times like this give me hope that I'll actually make it though this hellish year.
The
Friday Five I missed: Jackpot!
You have just won one million dollars:
1. Who do you call first? Once I can breathe again? My mom. When in doubt, I call my mom. It's worked so far.
2. What is the first thing you buy for yourself? A computer. One with a CD drive that won't be malfunctioning all the freakin' time like this one.
3. What is the first thing you buy for someone else? I honestly don't know. I don't think my family needs anything right now. That sounds selfish, but I
swear I can't think of anyone to buy something for. Besides Greg, but yeah.
4. Do you give any away? If yes, to whom? Yes. To The Hunger Site, The Leaky Cauldron, Fiction Alley and the SugarQuill, and an environmental organization. Maybe Greenpeace. Ooh, the ASPCA too. I mean, if I have that much money, I can save some for college and a new car and still have piles left over to sprinkle around, right?
5. Do you invest any? If so, how? Maybe some, because I imagine my parents would make me do it. I know people can make even bigger piles of money by investing piles of money in stocks and such, but I'm not up for it. I'm no risk-taker. Does eventually investing in my education and a big comfortable house count?
