Friday Five: friends.
Do you remember your first best friend? Who was it?
The earliest ones I can remember are from the first time I lived in the States (until I was 7): Ashley and her sister Nicole, and Precious and her sister Ivory. Having one best friend is an illusion.

Are you still in touch with this person?
No. Not one of them. Seven-year-olds aren't big on letter-writing, and that was before the days of email.

Do you have a current close friend?
So many. Too many to list. And they're all like sisters to me, even though I haven't seen some of them in years.

How did you become friends with this person?
I will randomly pick a friend from my address book... Megan. I met Megan on the bus to school the first day of junior year. I don't have any fun "I didn't know she was a twin" stories because Stephanie was at the bus stop that day, too. Megan showed up in my English class and sat behind me. We were assigned to the same group for the presentations on A Gathering of Old Men (Ernest Gaines), and I started hanging around her and Stephanie.

Is there a friend from your past that you wish you were still in contact with? Why?
I've lost touch with so many people over the years, so I have to pick another random one. David V. (David was a popular name in 1985/6.) I met and slowly befriended him in Germany. He had a crush on my friend Niki that we only ever acknowledged when we were teasing him about it. We emailed for a while after I left, but then he switched emails and I lost touch with him. The latest thing I have from him is an address in Wyoming. I sent him a Christmas card. He was a good conversationalist. Well, I give that title to anyone who can get me talking out loud, but he was. And he was fun. And way platonic.

When I got to my piano teacher's house today, I sat down to play first, like I usually do. I only really practiced one day this week, and that was last night, so I was expecting missed notes and bad dynamics. Not so. All four color pieces went well. It put me in a good mood for the rest of the afternoon. I have to go driving with Nu-Way at 9am tomorrow (!!!) and (maybe) do research at the library for my AP US History paper, which I have not started. Yeah, that'll put me back in a bad mood in no time, especially since I can't stay online till midnight because I need sleep. Bleh.

FearlessGaia30: anyway, the article says that men do their best and most creative work
ChibMan: while depressed?
FearlessGaia30: before the age of 35, while they're still trying to impress women
ChibMan: o
FearlessGaia30: once they're married, it all goes downhill
ChibMan: lol
FearlessGaia30: it's all about "trying to get laid".
ChibMan: basically.

ChibMan: well i mean.
ChibMan: sex.
FearlessGaia30: but don't men have other goals?
ChibMan: umm...
ChibMan: money
FearlessGaia30: self-actualization and all?
[Note: Anyone who gets this subtle book refence wins major kudos from me.]
