Yesterday, I did not do much of anything. We were held in seventh period instead of first (that's what usually happens). I decided to just skip going to seventh altogether and headed out to finish my project for Avondet.

And guess what?

I FINISHED MY POWER SUPPLY! And it works! And I got an A, even though it's very late and does not have the best craftsmanship, and partially because Mr. Avondet likes me even though I don't excel in his class.

On top of that, I asked Greg to keep me company while I worked, and he did. You think he'd have been more of a hindrance than a help, but it was quite the opposite. I put it together all by myself this time, which meant that I had to fix/undo a few things. But he switched my alligator clips for me, and helped me find the electrical tape. And when I needed to concentrate (meaning he needed to back off a bit), he did. Strange how quickly people will obey you when you're holding a hot soldering iron... ;) It was a lovely morning. I enjoyed my extended Greg Time very much. And I accomplished something. And my seventh period teacher didn't care that I never showed up. Good all around.

Eighth period was physics. I was still unprepared for the final, so I didn't take it. I sat around and read and talked to Greg. During first period, Mrs. Anderson talked a little about references for our projects. I paid attention, but I didn't retain any of it. I think she knew that, though, because of the way everyone was acting. Mrs. Sim came by, though, and she gave me cookies. She took one of mine a week or so ago (I always have a snack after school; I had Mini Chips Ahoy at It's Ac that day), and she said she felt bad, so she wanted to replace it. I didn't protest, but I had my own cookies to snack on, so I shared the ones Mrs. Sim gave me with McClain.

::sobs:: No more Buffy! I found the ending quite satisfying, though. Now that I think about it, it followed part of the Classic Ways to End a Season (or Series): a birth, a death, a wedding, a natural disaster, someone leaves home, and so on. Just enough strings were left to allow for a Buffy movie in the future, as Mr. Price pointed out this morning. Spoilers. Spike died, though! There was a press thingie going around that said James Marsters was signed on for Angel next season. How can he do that if his character is dead? Also, what happens when the rest of California finds out that Sunnydale no longer exists? What about all the people who lived there? Where's Buffy going to live? She's got Dawn and a dozen or so Potentials to deal with. Also, I like how all the Potentials all over the world have Slayer powers. That was a brilliant idea. Greg was all, "Xander got screwed. He lost an eye, he lost his girl..." Anya's death was the most brutal. They didn't show Buffy slicing Caleb in half, but they showed the Bringer practically slice Anya in half? What's with that? I got a little confused during that scene with Buffy and the First-as-Caleb. I couldn't tell who was whom, after all those scenes with Caleb and the First-as-Buffy. I liked Faith and Wood's banter in the basement. She said, "That was rock em' sock 'em." And he said he was prettier than her. I totally missed that part about "just give me the chance to surprise you", and how it came back when Wood pretended to faint on the bus at the end, then woke up and said, "surprise." That was cool. End spoilers. All in all, a good finale. I'm going to miss it.

And the WB will air Fearless in its time slot, so I'll have something to watch... when I'm not studying for Adkins. Grr. I'm against Fearless as a tv show, though. The books are incredible, but not all literature translates well to drama. My main qualm: Gaia is supposed to be seventeen, a high school student, and blonde. Not twenty-something, a CIA agent, and brunette. Nuh-uh. Still gonna watch, though.

Good Smallville finale, too. More spoilers. What happened to Helen? Is Lex going to die in the plane crash? Chloe's crossed over to the dark side! How can she team up with Lionel against Clark? I understand that he hurt her too many times, but she never seemed the type to compromise a friendship (even a ruined one) for her love of journalism. Clark was crazy. A kryptonite key? He nearly killed himself putting it in the ship, he destroyed his only link to his past, he killed his potential little brother/sister, and he turned his parents against him. He destroyed his whole life. And his answer was to use red kryptonite on himself and run off to Metropolis? Lord. Clark is so screwed. End additional spoilers. Another good finale.

So. Today, I fully intended to take the physics final. But I left my calculator and trusty pencil at home, so I took that as a sign. Let's hope I didn't misread it. I spent the extended eighth period in Mr. T's room with Greg. We talked, then we read, and after lunch we read some humorous web comics. That is, until I complained that I need something mentally stimulating. After a few unimpressive rounds of Text Twist, we switched to Bookworm, where I kicked butt. 39,000 or so. I had some good words, "quay" and "dandy" among them. Greg managed to find "sins" immediately followed by "bed". Interpret that however you will.

After all that Greg Time, I needed a break, so I hung out in my regular seventh period. We watched more of Love and Basketball. Not a bad movie. John mooned us!!!!!! I was minding my own business, watching the movie, chatting with Danelle, and I look up, and... oh my gosh. We all flipped out. Danelle ran to the back of the room, and I think I covered my eyes and ducked. Our teacher had stepped out, so I guess he saw an opportunity and went for it. There are some crazy people at my school...

A bit more Greg Time during first period. Mrs. Anderson was just working on her computer, so Greg and I sat on the windowsill and talked. We made up and played this game. You get a dictionary, and have a whole conversation without saying a word. You can only use words you find in the dictionary, and only one at a time. It was actually really fun.

It's Academic after school was deserted, but good. McClain joined us briefly. I don't think I'm going to get another chance to play Mark, which is sad, but it was fun. I impressed Mr. T twice: once by knowing that Maria Theresa made Vienna, Austria, the music capital of the world during her time; and once by knowing that Theseus, Duke of Athens, married Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons. (The latter was in "A Midsummer Night's Dream", my favorite Shakespeare play.)

Greg gave me a ride home afterwards. My parents actually didn't know I was staying, but I had a ride, so I just stayed and called them later. Totally uncharacteristic of me, I know. I'm such a goody-goody. I'm always checking in with my parents, even though they don't usually make me do it. But I took a chance by staying with their knowing, and it worked out. The Lindsay-shaped box in which I live is slowly getting bigger and more comfortable. Not, of course, when it comes to my hair. My mom trimmed my bangs last night. They look weird now. When they're longish, I think they look good, but she thinks they look "goofy". When they're shortish, like now, it's just the opposite. And I can't hide until they grow back, either. National Honor Society induction tomorrow night. Sigh. I suppose I'll live. I have so far.
