Squee! 34 days til Order of the Phoenix! ::does frenzied happy dance::

Okay. Calm now. I spent most of today out. I needed at least two book sources for my history paper, so I hit the library to see what I could come up with. If I'd thought about it, I would've looked up the books on my home computer (the database is online) and just taken notes from them at the library. But I didn't, so I spent about half an hour searching through roughly thirty listings. I think I may have found some sources for that English project, though. I didn't get a chance to find the actual books, but there is hope! Anyway, I took notes for another hour, and then Mom showed up to get me. I forgot I had my phone on vibrate, so I didn't hear it when she called me. Oops. I still feel like I got something accomplished.

After the library, we had lunch at Subway (that Monterey Cheddar bread is good) and then went to Fashion Bug. I got a yellow butterfly t-shirt, a blue top for the NHS induction next week, and some cute capri track pants. I'm still looking for a pair of denim capris that are short enough, though. If they're more than two inches below my knee, they're too long. And I have long legs, so that shouldn't be a problem. (Key word: shouldn't. Not "isn't".) Then we came home. Turns out that the ceiling was too low for the Thunderbirds to fly at the Andrews Air Show today. My mom didn't know what "ceiling" meant in that sense. It was funny.

I got a nifty SAT book, Up Your Score: The Underground Guide to the SAT at the library. (Yes, I am that cheap. :P) It's definitely the coolest test prep thing I've ever read. I already know a lot about the test (having already taken it once), but I figure if I want that 1300, I need some extra work. ( Oddly enough, this book is due back on SAT day, June 7.) You know, I never realized how much time I spend filling in the ovals on the answer sheet. I swear by my mechanical pencil, but a regular dull pencil would actually work faster. I should try that. Nothing to lose, right? I can live with 1240, if it turns out like that. But I get the feeling that if I pay attention to this book, I won't have to. And it's interesting, so yay all around.
The Story of the Evil Testing Serpent In the beginning, there was no SAT. Students frolicked in their high school paradise without knowledge of evil. But then the Evil Testing Serpent (ETS) silently slithered into the high school through the hot-lunch loading dock. The ETS was the most nefarious, loathsome, malevolent, odious, insidious, cunning, beguiling, deceitful serpents that ever existed. (It was because of this serpent that high school students have had to learn vocabulary words like the ones in the previous sentence.) The ETS, an unfathomably long, mighty, mucus-encrusted beastie, was determined to bring evil and pain into the paradise. So it devised a plan that would put an end to the happiness of high school students. [...] He called this hideous ordeal the Slimy and Atrocious Torture (SAT).

Yep. I'm having fun just reading the thing. 1300+, here I come. =)

Okay, after I wrote the above, my mom walked in and announced that she was going to Waldorf. I said "ooh!" and proceeded to very quickly close windows, not realizing that I'd forgotten to post my blog. But I write my entries in Semagic first, so it's all good. We went in a bunch of stores, ate, then went in some more stores. I don't usually shop so late (7-10 PM), but hey. I found some khaki-colored pants to go with my new top. I hate shopping for pants. I have long legs, so I have to find pants made specifically for people with long legs. Pants made for tall people will not suffice, as I discovered in New York and Company. (The "average" ones were too short, and the "tall" ones were way too long.) But all is good, and I have new pants.

Greg wants to go see The Matrix Reloaded tomorrow, but I don't know if I want to go. I haven't done much work today, except for that marathon library session. And I think my family might be going to see Daddy Day Care -- I cannot run into them with Greg. That could be... I can't think of a word for it, but it's negative, believe me. Family, good. Greg, good. Family + Greg, not so good.
