Another snow day. Mini-w00t! I think this snowfall is the heaviest we've had this winter. The snow out in front comes within about 4 inches of my window (my room's halfway underground cause our house is split-level). I would go on about the beauty and majesty of snow, but I think I'll save that for another day.
College mail continues. I get at least two letters every day. Yesterday I got a record (I think) four, and I had actually heard of all those colleges before. A few were repeat offenders. I don't get much mail, so I tend to open everything that comes for me. I read them, and then stick them in the basket with all the others. I have yet to actually reply to any of them. So many trees -- I must recycle those letters instead of just throwing them away.
I managed to finish my science fair project last night, because I believe in Murphy's Law when it comes to school. I was just waiting for them to go with a two-hour delay. So, my mom ended up helping me (a
lot) with my project. As usual. She confuses me sometimes. Every time I procrastinate about something (which happens far more often than I intend), she gives me the same lecture. And then she helps me anyway. Now, I did most of the work myself. And I basically copied my board design from last year. The project itself was finished on Thursday, so I just had to finish the paper-thingie and print it.
Unfortunately, the computer is being weird again and not detecting the CD drive, so I wound up loading the program I needed onto our other, slower, much more annoying computer, and moving the printer as well. It turned out okay, though, just like I was praying it would. (I don't mean that as an expression -- I actually prayed that everything would work out. And it did. The power of prayer amazes me sometimes.) I printed everything, cut it all out, and glued it to the board while watching ER, the news, and part of the Tonight Show. (Gotta love the Jaywalk All-Stars. Are people
really that lacking in common sense? "What river runs through Washington, D.C.?" ::blank stare from contestant:: "Po...to..." ::continued blank stare::
Honestly.) I even added a windmill postcard I got in Holland, and some of the extra windmill blades I used for the testing. My project doesn't rock, but considering the work and time I put into it (not as much as I should have), it's decent.
I joined a bunch of new fanlistings:
The Princess Diaries, Ravenclaws, Harry Potter (can't believe I didn't find that sooner) and the Draco Trilogy. Must rearrange sidebar to have space for nifty codes. Fans rock. =)
I finished
Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging (Louise Rennison) this morning. It was pretty good. It's a British humor novel, rather like
Bridget Jones' Diary. It's the diary of a year in the life of Georgia Nicholson, a fourteen-year-old British girl. It wasn't as good as I expected it to be, but it made me laugh. And I finished it in about three days, which is almost unheard of lately. I plan on getting the second volume from the library, and maybe BJD as well. Ah, the wonderful world of books.
A rather random thought: Writing is the best invention ever. (Yes, even greater than Post-its, zipper pulls, the umbrella, and the microwave oven.)
