Movie night yesterday was fun. We watched
The Fast and the Furious, Shrek, and part of
Blazing Saddles (one of his movies.)
The Fast and the Furious was pretty good. I'd only seen the beginning of it before. Fast cars. Vin Diesel. Nifty. In the middle of
Blazing Saddles, Greg's mom called. They had car trouble near Six Flags, so Greg had to go pick them up. It took longer than we thought, so movie night was pretty much over. I totally understand that Greg had to leave. And it gives us a good excuse to sit around here again, hopefully with no interruptions.
"Work" today was enjoyable. I was running slightly late, though. All my momentum from getting ready for school is shot by now. It didn't matter much. All I really did today was file papers for one of the businesses my piano teacher is involved in. I think it has something to do with print services (like making calendar with company names on them and things like that.) In retrospect, I can't believe I filed papers alphabetically for
three hours and didn't get bored at all. I tried that for community service hours back in freshman year and was bored to tears. I don't know what I'll be doing tomorrow, but breaks to chat with Mrs. Maus and to answer her office phone will definitely keep me from being bored. And she said I could use her piano if I came early.
We went to Waldorf after I got home. I drove there. Never done that before. I feel special. And I parked without hitting the car next to me. :o) I've been getting bad cell phone reception today, though, so I was getting text messages either really late, or not at all. When we hit the mall, I was late meeting up with my mom, and she said she called me, but my phone never rang. I got a shirt and tank top from Old Navy, a cute necklace (on sale for $2.50!) from Claire's and various stuff from Target. We got caught in a freak rain shower heading into Target, but I found everything I wanted to get there, so it was okay. I even got my first new CD in months, Michelle Branch's
Hotel Paper. (::Finds "want to" list, crosses off one item.::) Then we went into Borders, where I bought nothing (gasp!) and came home.
I like
Hotel Paper so far, considering that I've only listened to it once, and I was doing other things at the same time. Michelle sounds the same way she did on
The Spirit Room, only older. Her songs are still about love, but they're less pop and more rock, with a hint of country. I especially heard the country in "Love Me Like That," her duet with Sheryl Crow. All the songs have the same basic Michelle sound to them, but each is unique. I thought I was going crazy during the first chorus of "'Til I Get Over You," because I thought I heard someone singing in French. But I'm not that crazy: the echo-type part of the chorus is sung in French (and translated in the liner notes for those of us who don't
parlez-vous Français.) Just enough pop in this album, but not too much.
So I finally got to shop (haven't done that in
weeks), but I still have a zillion things to do. Sigh.
